Grace Ward
YA Historical Fiction & Fantasy
Grace Ward (she/her/hers)
Oh hi there! Welcome to my little corner of the internet!
My name is Grace and I am an author and playwright from Boise, Idaho. I grew up on the road with my parent's rock band and have always known the artist's life was for me. I love writing stories about messy women and volatile relationships. As a queer, Romani-American writer who has struggled with ADHD and Dyslexia her whole life, I often find those topics creeping into my work as well. If you are reading this message, audiences like you make what I do possible. Feel free to snoop around this page and, as always, never hesitate to reach out. My emails and DM's are always open! For specific details on all my projects, see the appropriate tabs above.
Writing For Young Adults!
I believe young people deserve GREAT stories. My debut novel The Apollo, which is the first book in the highly anticipated Constellation Thief Trilogy, debuted in January of 2024 to great success. It spent over a month as the #1 selling book in the State of Idaho, some my call that small potatoes (get it... because it's Idaho) but I am extremely proud. The second novel in The Constellation Thief Trilogy is set for release from Cockatrice Press in the fall of 2025. I am also in process on a YA Romantasy novel set in 800 AD Ukraine and a historical fiction novel about Romani Immigration in the 1950's. I love fantasy, adventure, and high-stakes adventure and intend on writing plenty of it. Currently, I am pursuing my MFA in Writing For Young People from Antioch University in LA where I am conducting my research in the representation of women with Autism Spectrum Disorder in American popular media.
Playwriting!
In 2021 I graduated with my BA in Theatre Arts from Boise State University where I studied dramatic writing, stage management, and lighting design. I also spent time at the National Theatre Institute at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center studying playwriting and musical theater writing. I was awarded the CCC Award in 2020 for musical theatre writing and was a resident artist at Surel's Place that very same summer. My play & Through The Woods has been produced across the country including the Minnesota Fringe Festival and Storyfort Festival and will be making its world premiere with Brick By Brick Players in 2024. I am currently in development with my writing partner, Elke Myers, on a new musical called BL!NK. More on that soon!
Fun Facts!
Being from Idaho, I have a hard time staying indoors, especially when the world all around me is just so beautiful. My partner and I love to backpack, camp, mountain bike, cross-country ski, and downhill ski. I didn't learn to ski until I was 20 but now I can confidently shred it on black diamonds and take big jumps without falling over (most of the time!) I feel thankful to have the best partner in the world and together we have the best dog in the world. When I'm not writing or sitting with my face in the sunshine, I love to garden and ride my bike along the Boise River.
